St. Luke’s - Branchport
Nestled in the heart of the Finger Lakes, our beautiful stone church sits on the shores of Keuka Lake in Branchport. Built in 1869, the church stands as a testament to the Episcopal tradition in this area, and is proudly included on the National Historic Register. Being a lake community, the winter finds the locals filling the pews while the snowbirds join the service via Zoom. In the summer, the cottages on the lake are once again occupied, and our little church swells with the return of our fair weather parishioners.
St. Luke's welcomes all new-comers and provides a wonderful supportive environment to worship God and help one another. We have a lively coffee hour every week following the service, where all can enjoy a tasty homemade treat from one of our members. The first Sunday of the month we all bring a donation for the local food pantry. The pantry recently reached out to us to let us know what a blessing that regular donation of food has been for them. Knowing that St. Luke's can be counted upon in our area is vitally important. Our well-attended women's group meets the second Tuesday of the month and works on projects for both the church and the community. Every third Thursday of the month we gather for an evening of fun and fellowship at the parish house for a potluck dinner.
Our Episcopal congregation has been worshipping in this beautiful little church since just after the end of the Civil War, so you will not be surprised to find our weekly Communion service to be pretty traditional. But the Christian tradition we are most committed to is “loving our neighbors as ourselves.” so everything about us is quite personal. We are open to new ideas in all areas of our common life together. In our prayer & music, outreach & fellowship, we are always open to being led in new directions determined by the gifts of our members.
